Are you ready for some…overeating?? Because that is what we did. This is the third year of watching the Superbowl at Jesse’s apartment and the food gets better every year. I have some great cooks in my group of friends and it shows. Jon and I met at this party 2 years ago and he hasn’t stopped talking about the food at the superbowl party since. Must be why he sticks around.
For whatever reason, I got it in my head that I was going to make a football field out of some dessert and that is what I did. A football field out of rice krispy treats and some cake pop footballs to be exact.
I know you probably won’t make one now, but if you are interested in making one eventually, let me give you the low down.
Rice Krispy Football Field
Make Rice Krispy Treats according to the box. Add an equal amount of blue and yellow food coloring while the marshmallows are melting (or green if you have it).
Spread the rice krispy treats in a 9×13 pan.
Now for the goal post. Get out your glue gun and 8 popsicle sticks.
Want to add some footballs to your field? Well, I just so happen to have some cake balls in my freezer from the last attempt, so I just reshaped them into footballs. I don’t know how Bakerella does it though, I only had 3 left standing of 10!
Use some royal icing to make the lines on the football field as well as the laces of the football. Stick the goal posts and footballs into the rice krispies to create your field. I attempted to show the ball being kicked into the field goal. It kinda worked, I guess?
I also made a little football pizza…it looked great pre-cooked, but once the cheese melted, you couldn’t tell. It was a tasty fail at least.
Wanna see what everyone else brought? There was quite a spread for 12 people: spinach artichoke dip, jalapeno artichoke dip, buffalo chicken dip, guac, chips, red velvet cookies, salsa, pretzel balls with homemade mustard, pigs in a blanket, caprese sticks….
And let’s not forget the garlic snake bread. YUM. It was a good addition to Madonna’s halftime show but I think the bread stole the show.
And we can’t have a superbowl party without a pool.
These boys won the pool and the reverse pool and took shots to celebrate. But really they were drowning their sorrows since Jesse & Colette won real money in another pool.
Next year, the Niner’s better make it to the superbowl so we will really have something to celebrate.

Very creative! We went way over the top at Scanlon’s……wings, meatballs, rueben dip, lasagna and chocolate covered cheesecake…..all that plus some whiskey……we were all suffering this a.m. playing golf!
