I’ve been learning a lot about marketing lately and I keep reading how you need to see or hear about a product or brand seven times on average before you decide to purchase. Shortly after being reminded of this, I unintentionally proved the theory 100% correct.
Currently, Matcha has been everywhere I am- on instagram, in cafes, and on my favorite food and health blogs. I didn’t even know what Matcha was until a few months ago. Well, I guess I’d probably heard of it, but never thought twice about it. After all my recent run-ins with Matcha, I finally saw a small silver jar of it at the health food store. I had this immense urge to buy it and find out what it was all about. My jaw dropped at the 30 CHF ($30) price tag, but my god I wanted it. So I stared at it, picked it up and put it down, walked around the store once more, and ultimately came back to it and grabbed it right before check out. I guess seeing it seven times did the trick. Who knows what started this Matcha craze, but I hopped on the bandwagon. And I’m not complaining.
Matcha is loaded with great health benefits, but that’s not why I want to tell you about it. I want to teach you how to make it because it’s yummy! And it’s a way better post-lunch treat than a diet soda, I can tell you that for sure. Ya, it’s pricey, but your small jar will take you a long way. One other thing you should probably invest in is a handheld frother. Because they are the best. Santa brought me this Bodum one a few years ago and it has drastically boosted my weekend mornings at home…and now my weekday Matcha lattes.
You got five minutes to spare? Great. Letsa make-a Matcha latte, K?
- 1 cup // 250 mL unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 teaspoon honey or 100% maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- In a small saucepan on medium heat, stir all the ingredients together. Stir frequently until the green clumps are gone and the heat is to your liking. Once heated, froth the latte with a frother, whisk, or even a blender. Serve in your favorite mug and enjoy immediately!

I have heard so much about matcha, but haven’t tried it yet. You’ve convinced me! This latte sounds delicious. Love that green color : )
